It is during the times no one is watching where your life is really shaped, where your future is formed, and when you character is most revealed.
The times no one is watching really reveal the depth of growth you will experience in your life. It is the times no one is watching that reveal your true habits of growth or the lack of.
As a trainer for the restaurant I work for I’m constantly watching people. Not in a weird, creepy way, but in order for me to speak into the lives of the trainees I have to know where they are and why they are there. I’ve learned there are two ways to know these things. The first way is to ask them, to get their honest assessment of themselves. But, the second way is to watch them when they don’t know anyone is watching.
Asking reveals the areas they know they need help. But, the reality is you probably don’t know all the areas you need help or you may think you’re doing something right, but it is really a destructive habit. There are areas in your life where you need someone from the outside looking in to shine some light for you. There are areas you see and know you need to grow. But, there are also areas you cannot see and don’t know you need to grow.
In order for you to experience the fullness of growth you need revelation from the outside to help you know what you do not know and to help you correct what you may be doing wrong.
Getting help from the outside is what sets you up for further growth for your future. Why? Because fresh eyes from the outside help you see the habits that are shaping your future. If you want to get a glimpse of your future, take a good, hard look at your current habits.
Do you have someone or people in your life who help you see what you can’t see? Do you have people who help you learn what you don’t know?
